St. Mary's MPP Implements SupplyScape's Electronic Pedigree Solution for Streamlined Regulatory Compliance
Woburn, Mass., April 24, 2007 -- SupplyScape Corporation today announced that St. Mary's Managed Prescription Program (MPP) deployed its E-Pedigree™ data management solution to enable regulatory compliance, improve supply chain efficiency, and enhance customer service.
St. Mary's MPP is an innovative pharmacy repackaging company that provides pharmacy products for occupational and orthopedic health care practices to dispense to their workers compensation patients. St. Mary's serves more than 400 practice locations in 40 states, and uses E-Pedigree to comply with all state pedigree laws including California, Florida, Indiana, and the Federal Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA).
"As a pharmacy repackaging company, St. Mary's has special packaging requirements. SupplyScape was the only vendor who understood and had a proven commercial system that met our needs," said Susan Bigelow, St. Mary's MPP director of operations. "SupplyScape's E-Pedigree enables us to incorporate paper pedigrees from upstream trading partners into the electronic pedigree and make it available for viewing over the Web to our customers. During the repackaging process St. Mary's creates an initial ePedigree for the bulk drug it receives from the pharmaceutical manufacturer. Next, it generates a repack ePedigree for each pack created, which is certified and transmitted through the E-Pedigree Portal to the customer. With the E-Pedigree Portal, St. Mary's eases the burden of pedigree management on physicians and clinics by enabling them to access and retrieve their pedigree over the Web. "Our customers no longer have to worry about the impact of pedigree requirements on their business," noted Bigelow. "They rely on St. Mary's to store pedigrees for the products they purchase in our E-Pedigree Portal."
Additionally, St. Mary's drew upon the E-Pedigree system to demonstrate product security best practices as part of its successful accreditation from the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy's (NABP) Verified-Accredited Wholesale Distributors (VAWD). The VAWD program accredits wholesale distributors and certifies that the wholesale distributor is legitimate, validly licensed in good standing, and employing security and best practices for safely distributing prescription drugs from manufacturers to pharmacies or health care facilities.
